How in the world were the pitchers selected? NOT ONE of the 9 in the West were on the Leader Board in the league. It looks to be which school you are from or who your coach is. What a ridiculous selection process …………
I am very dissappointed with some of the names on the all star roster! Most of the guys that were named on the roster are very deserving of their spots. They have come to the cape and portrayed their abilities and have been recognized for their talents. There are are a couple of the names on the roster that have been here for a very short amount of time and are getting the chance to play in the all star game. They may as well be great players but I feel as though they are taking something away from the guys who have spent the whole summer here playing great baseball against the best collegiate talent in the nation. Cotuit has one of the best pitching staffs on the cape this year and only have one pitcher that has made the all star team. Chad Bell and Jake Buchanan were failed to be recognized as leading the best pitching staff in the western conference. Bell threw a no hitter and has gone over 15 innings in a row without giving up a hit against some of the nations best hitters. I think the league needs to reevaluate how they go about selecting the all stars. It seems as though some of the most deserving players are getting snubbed from the game. I also believe that some of the players were selected to the team before they ever made it to the cape. It is disheartening to the fans that have cheered on their favorite players throughout the season to see them get snubbed in the all star game.
It shouldn't matter where a player got drafted this year or where they go to school! What matters is how they have performed this summer in the league. They are called the Cape Cod All Star team, right???
sweet. one who really deserves it is Gary Brown of Orleans
Brandon Workman does not deserve to be in the All-Star game, let alone start for the West. He's pitched just over 9 innings this summer while Pfisterer and Armstrong have combined for over 50 IP and have carried Wareham thus far. It is an absolute joke and an insult to those two and guys like Chad Bell who didn't even make the roster that Workman will take the ball for the West on Thursday.
In an unrelated point, it's funny that the East has been so stacked at the shortstop position the last couple of years (Burris, Posey, Beckham, Green), but this year is starting a 2B at that position essentially by default (who, I should add, was originally on the Cape as a temp). No eastern division SS was hitting over .260 entering tonight's schedule. Just thought that was interesting.
