Future Mariner Petree named National POY

petree.jpegMissouri State sophomore pitcher Nick Petree, who’s slated to play for Harwich this summer, was named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball.

Petree is 10-3 this season with a 0.92 ERA, best in the nation among starters. He has struck out 109 in 107.3 innings of work.

He’ll lead Missouri State into the Coral Gables Regional today.

  1. Will, Cotuit played two scrimmages over the weekend. In the second game, a 6’8″ pitcher from Arizona State hit 96 on the gun several times in only two innings pitched. I noticed he’s not on your Cotuit roster analysis, so I’m wondering what you know about Adam McCreery.

  2. He’s still not on the roster so I guess he was just a late addition, but wow, that’s not a bad debut, huh? He’s just a freshman, but from what I gather, he missed a lot of the spring with an injury. I will definitely be keeping an eye on him now. A 6’8 left-handed pitcher who can touch 96 sounds like something special. Thanks for the info.
